After Bluehost suspended a number of Persian blogs (see: “Persian blogs on Bluehost will be going down”), I wrote this short article for Gozaar. The article jut got published:
We Need to Talk!
On the Suspension of Persian Blogs by the Hosting Company BluehostSeinfeld’s George Costanza once said “we need to talk” is “the worst four words in the English language.” Some of the people who comment on our Persian blogs—though not particularly fond of the “perverted” Western culture—do share the same viewpoint with Mr. Costanza.

Have you seen this news about how a couple of Euro companies have been helping Mullahs to monitor dissidents?
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/13/europe39s-telecoms-aid-with-spy-tech/
wo European companies — a major contractor to the U.S. government and a top cell-phone equipment maker — last year installed an electronic surveillance system for Iran that human rights advocates and intelligence experts say can help Iran target dissidents.
Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), a joint venture between the Finnish cell-phone giant Nokia and German powerhouse Siemens, delivered what is known as a monitoring center to Irantelecom, Iran’s state-owned telephone company.
A spokesman for NSN said the servers were sold for “lawful intercept functionality,” a technical term used by the cell-phone industry to refer to law enforcement’s ability to tap phones, read e-mails and surveil electronic data on communications networks.

The door was open so I let myself in ;)
Nice place here. Not exactly sure what it is but it’s nice.
Regarding BlueHost, why are they cancling all Persian blogs (even of people who aren’t in Iran and are opposed to the regeem)? Isn’t that shooting themselves in the leg (or more so shooting the US)?
