Feed Counter: Analysis of Readership of Feeds of Persian Blogs
As a sister project to “Didish?” and “KiBeKi“, Feedcounter analyzes the readership of feeds in the Persian blogosphere. The input to Feedcounter is through feeds discovered by either one of its sisters plus feeds which are manually submitted by Persian bloggers.
The main building block of Feedcounter is an OCR module especially developed for reading “number of reader” badges generated by Feedburner. The process is schematically shown in this flowchart.

The result is then published on feedcounter.kamangir.net, as lists and graphs.
It is worth to mention that Feedcounter essentially looks at the figures generated by Feedburner. Although, Feedburner is a popular service in the blogosphere, there are still many blogs which do not use it. Furthermore, on many blogging services, such as Wordpress, a blog can have more than one feed, thus reducing the accuracy of the results.
The development log for this project can be found here.
